Sue Smith showed me this Anna's hummingbird nest that was located only some 20 feet south of the
Berkeley road footbridge over San Jose creek in Goleta CA. I watched it for nearly a week before the
first and only hatchling appeared. The photos below have been selected from many that I took.

On the morning of the 17th day, the nest was empty, but intact. I presume the youngster had fledged.
His fledge date was March 25, 2008.
